My current projects :)

These are my current projects :) This is a retirement gift. The top pic is a holder I bought at Hobby Lobby--cheap--and decoupaged it along with a mini composition journal :) The bottom is a regular size composition book with decorations. The hymn is a copy that I tea stained. It looks so original that my daughter thought I ripped it out of a hymn book!! I'm learning as I go, but I love this and it's realxing to me--try it :)

Well, here is my finished one!! Notice I took the measurement so you could see this is a small notebook. If you don't show the measurements they all look regular size!!

The top picture is a picture so you can see the glossy finish. There are several kinds of glue that do this--also regular white glue thinned down works just as well! This glue can get pricey!!

Update

The first picture is a before of the new project I'm starting. The notebook is the small kind, I have my sandpaper to take the "waxy" layer off the notebook, embellishments, and of course my paper! When I'm done with one, I will post the after pic :)

Also an updated pic of the completed altered journal I started a few weeks ago. My daughter is using it for a gift...put with a nice pen this does make a great gift for any occasion. I've used them for birthdays and retirement so far!

Next "session" we will discuss the inside :) I will show you "tricks" for that :)

Well....I've not been doing my altered art much lately...too busy going to work and out in the pool :) It's 100 degrees hot out there!! I am working on the one that has the silver heart in the middle. I will post pictures soon. I'm not really pleased with it yet, and I'm sure it needs some more "help" :) I still love doing them, and I have a Christmas project in mind for the smaller ones....stay tuned :)

Nothing new to report---yet :) I have to finish one, and I'm thinking about Christmas :) Already you say? It's okay, it's a good stress buster and there is plenty of time to finish them :)

REMEMBER: There is NO wrong way to make an altered art composition book :) Use your imagination. You can use:

Scrapbook paper, buttons, lace, fabric, embellishments of any kind, the possibilities are endless! Look at greeting cards and things like that when you go thrifting. This doesnt have to be expensive. As a matter of fact, it's almost school supply time, and WalMart has composition books for 25 cents....that's right....you could get 4 of these puppies for $1 and create away with what you have at home.

Experiment----it is great fun and stress relief too!!

I don't have any new pics today of our creations, but I wanted to explain the altered art above the heart journal. It's a small hardback notebook. It looks the same size as the big ones in the pic, but it's not. It would make a great gift or a cute notebook to carry in your purse.

Altered Art Composition Book Hint: You know how composition books have the waxy feel on the cover, sand it off!! When you use sandpaper, your glue will stick much better.

So go from this "plain ol looking composition book" to a work of art you can really use :)

Okay...this is cool. We went to a thrift store and found some Hallmark cards and took them apart and used them to make this cool altered book..it's not done yet, but here's a sneak peak and then when it's ALL done, I will post some more :) Also is a little "baby" one I made :) My daughter made a really pretty one maybe I can talk her into letting me post it too :)
